Chamber of Commerce August 2026 Meeting Recap
The Rio Linda Elverta Chamber of Commerce and Civic League held its regular meeting Aug. 10, 2026, focusing on upcoming community events, business engagement, and several ongoing projects designed to strengthen the Rio Linda and Elverta communities.
Community Events and Activities
Planning continued for the annual Mayor’s Race and Mayor’s Dinner, scheduled for Oct. 17. The dinner will feature a tri-tip meal, raffles and community recognition. Tickets are planned at $40, with additional details to be announced.
Other committee updates included preparations for the annual holiday light contest, upcoming business mixers, the Community Champion program and the Great Gobble Run, which had already received 21 registrations.
Business Development and Community Projects
The Chamber reported progress on several initiatives:

Business Passport Program: Participation has grown to 19 local businesses.

Community Cartoon Map: The artist anticipated completing the map by Sept. 1.

Mural Mosaic Project: The Chamber discussed reallocating $1,000 from the Quilt Trail Project to support the mosaic.

Community Beautification: Board members explored decorating utility poles along M Street, including the permitting requirements.

Permanent Chamber Location: The board discussed evaluating a potential permanent home for the organization.
Local Business and Community Announcements
Directors and community members shared updates about upcoming activities, including local concerts, a children’s coloring contest, the FFA Car Show, church fundraisers and charitable events.
Additional announcements highlighted efforts to support local animal welfare, including a search for a location to accommodate a mobile spay-and-neuter trailer.
Chamber Leadership
The board approved the previous meeting minutes and treasurer’s report. President Tonia Silva also announced that a vacant board position remains available and encouraged interested community members to inquire.
The Chamber continues its work to promote local businesses, encourage civic participation and support events that bring the Rio Linda and Elverta communities together.
